RULES

GAMEPLAY:

With the exception to FTB, or events hosted in a specific journal, all gameplay should be in the main community, with posts using this basic formula:
<b>Who:</b>
<b>When:</b> Day x, (time)
<b>Where:</b>
<b>What:</b>

Right now we are looking at roughly 2:1 discrepancy between IC and OOC time- that is, one IC week should pass for every IC one. We’ll look at regulating this or adjusting up or down.

Comment format will generally be icons and action tags, but feel free to prose it up within the tags if you’re feeling fancy!

MONTHLY PARTICIPATION CHECK:

There is no formal activity check for this game! While we expect your character to have a reasonable presence in the game, and not require your important relationships to constantly need to play around your absence, there is no set weekly or monthly comment requirements. If you will be absent from play for any length of time, we do expect you to note this on the hiatus/drop page.

That being said, once a month Participation Check will go up, and we will ask to see what your characters have done regarding interaction with the world and plot itself. IC action (and inaction) will have IC consequences, after all. :3

While participation with the plot itself is optional, answering the Participation Check is not. “My character stayed the hell away from all that plot business this month” is an acceptable reply, but failure to reply at all will result in the idling of your character.

SEX AND VIOLENCE, SEX AND VIOLENCE, SEX. AND. VIOLENCE:

Please have all sexy threads getting over a PG-13 rating Fade To Boning, and continue in a private boning post in your journal. This policy includes boning in which there are no actual boners involved. You can be in lesbians in the main community, but you can't be in lesbians, if u no what i mean.

Likewise, if you are going to go into loving depictions of eye-gouging, intestine crocheting, skin-flaying, snapping people on the head with rubber bands et cetera, please also warn for that and continue it in a journal post.

This game maintains that all creeping must be done ICly by consenting creepy players. It is Not Even Remotely Cool to pressure other players into things they don't want, including plots, sexy thread, sexy plots, characterization choices or friendship with creepers who pressure them into any of the above. If someone is creeping on you, the mods heartily encourage you to say "hey no creeper back off >:O" but if you need to, you can also get a mod to say "HEY NO CREEPER BACK OFF >8(!!!!!"

PLAYER BEHAVIOR:

By now, we hope that most of the player base are immature adults. We expect you, by and large, to be able to negotiate gameplay between each other, politely ask for clarification and compromise when necessary, and treat even people you don’t really care for with basic respect.

The mods will not stand for harassment of other players based on gender, sexuality, race, lifestye, spelling skills, Trivial Pursuit Scores or ability to play your favorite bishounen the way you like. If there is harassment we believe to be game-related, even if it happens outside official game channels (plurk, IM, anonmemes) it will not be tolerated.

Mods do not need to have evidence admissible in a court of law in order to call you on this. If you've "just been venting," then it is your responsibility to make sure the folks you vent to know what is and isn't appropriate to do with that criticism. Encouraging and facilitating harassment is itself harassment. In short: we see you, haters. Please believe and understand that there is nothing less in the world we want to deal with, and so we will do our best to get it our of our hair quickly.

CONCRIT:

There is no official concrit policy regarding accepting concrit. Players are encouraged (but not required) to have a crit post in their journal. It is up to players to accept crit or not, and in what forms (anon, private, w/e) in which to accept it. It's all rad and good to discuss characterization. We're here because we love characters, after all! If players would like to discuss characterization in a moderated forum, we'll do our best to facilitate that for you as well. However, players are not required to accept crit.

Likewise, please do not solicit crit from someone who doesn't want to give it. Thoughtful, helpful critiques take a lot of brain power, time and energy. No one owes it to you just because you want it. If someone just doesn't want to play with you, they are not required to, nor are the required to justify it.

If you do want crit, and you do get it, please accept it gracefully and consider it carefully. Someone spent a lot of thinking on that for you!

MOD RESPECT:

You understand and are OK with the fact that some factors, plots, mod choices, players, characters, flavor text, or badly coded community layouts may not be to your taste. You recognize that at some point this will happen. And when it does, you agree that you will do your best to RP and let RP, or if necessary address those concerns with the mods.

If you do need to do so, we ask that you address the issue politely because you respect our feelings and acknowledge and understand that we too have things about the game that are not to our tastes, but that we abide by them out of love of the parts of the game we do care about. You'll also contact them concisely because you respect our time and understand that we are all adults who have many commitments. And above all you will keep in mind that in some situations we may determine that it's in the games best interest not to take action, or not to take the action you prefer or advocate. You believe in them and trust that they are always doing their best, even when it's not what you're hoping for.

If you ever determine (and we certainly hope you won't!) that any of these factors become an irreparable barrier to your fun here, we ask that you find another place to have fun.

IF YOU ARE A GIANT PAIN IN OUR ASS:

As stated above, we hope all players are or do a decent job at faking maturity when it comes to respecting and getting along with fellow players. That being said, most of us are human, and all of us can make mistakes. There will be times when over-investment, miscommunications and so on can cause conflicts. If such player conflicts reach the point where serious mod intervention is required, then it generally a serious toll on our time and energies. The mods will ask, in that case, for players to make a statement about what lead up to the conflict, and what they will change about their own behavior to avoid such conflicts again.

There is no formal strike policy at this time.

NISHI WANTED THIS RULE:

If you tag with any variation of "My character carefully looks at every single thing in the room extremely carefully and uses their vague special power too," your character will fall into a pit of clockwork piranhas.

THIS PAGE IS JUST GETTING SILLY NOW:

Also, to prove that you have read the rules page and care about our feelings, all initial email communications to the mods must be entirely capslock. Be excellent to each other or twelve years dungeon no trial.

OK, I think we’re done here.
